Non-Essential Abortion Puts All Coloradoans at Risk – Spring 2020 Appeal

Caught flat-footed without enough personal protective equipment (PPE) for front-line health care workers, Governor Jared Polis shut down all “non-essential” medical procedures in the State of Colorado.

From dentists to heart surgeons, medical professionals closed their doors – with one glaring exception:  abortionists.  In fact our Sidewalk Advocates witnessed a busier Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood during the “Stay at Home” order.  Why?  Planned Parenthood ignored the governor’s mandate in order to peddle abortion, birth control and STI testing, while also defiantly operating sex education classes at a time when hundreds of thousands of teachers and students were locked out of Colorado schools!

Furthermore, in the same weeks that citizens across the country were urged to “stay home” and not travel, Colorado abortuaries were enticing patients to cross state lines – placing local residents at higher risk, and using even more of Colorado’s limited PPE supplies.

But don’t just take our word for it.  Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains CEO Vicki Cowart said: “The numbers that we’ve seen have been pretty extraordinary,” including 250 women coming from other states where abortion had been curtailed as non-essential.

Our governor prioritized killing babies over protecting health care workers and Colorado residents during a pandemic.  And to make matters worse, there was almost no pushback from other elected officials. Elections have consequences.

By supporting our spring Vote Life, Colorado advertising campaign (via billboard, radio, and print ads) PPCFL donors challenge Colorado voters to select pro-life candidates for office.  Pikes Peak Citizens for Life also aids Colorado citizens in our shared voting responsibilities by surveying candidates and posting their responses online.

We refuse to surrender to the culture of death.  As Planned Parenthood remained open during the pandemic, our Sidewalk Advocates nearly doubled their hours on the sidewalk.  We are aware of at least eight turnarounds and three babies saved in Colorado Springs due to the Sidewalk Advocates efforts to witness, counsel, and advocate for life.  Therefore, our Sidewalk Advocates not only saved lives, they also accomplished what Polis had failed to do: preserve PPE for essential healthcare workers.

As we train new Sidewalk Advocates and prepare for summer educational booths at fairs, along with our newsletter and website, please help us continue Advocating for Life with your financial gift today.

Thank you for defending Life!

Matt Niedzielski, President of Pikes Peak Citizens for Life
