Conscience Resolution for the 2018 Caucus

Pikes Peak Citizens for Life is encouraging all pro-life voters to attend their caucuses on March 6th and support delegates who will defend life.

Additionally, caucus attendees can support pro-life resolutions. The best way to put pro-life resolutions on the table is to be ready to offer resolutions at the proper time in your caucus.

In an earlier post we offered a sample resolution for life.

Here we offer another resolution for the protection of conscience. Use it “as-is” or as a template to compose a resolution of your own.

If you are uncomfortable presenting a resolution in your caucus, consider finding someone else at your caucus who will offer the resolutions and then back him/her up after the resolution is presented.

Thank you for taking the pro-life message to your caucus!

CONSCIENCE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS the First Amendment to the United States Constitution states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”; and

WHEREAS the intent of the First Amendment was to protect religion from government intrusions; and

WHEREAS the original colonists had fled to America to escape such tyrannical intrusion; and

WHEREAS the same kind of tyrannical erosion of religious liberty is becoming more and more egregious in our nation;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that no people should be compelled to act in violation of their religious, ethical or professional consciences nor be discriminated against if they refuse to act in violation of the consciences; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that no church or religious affiliated organization be compelled to act in violation of its teachings or suffer consequences if they refuse to act in violation of its teachings; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the three branches of federal government be called upon to insure the protection of the consciences and religious liberty of all its citizens and institutions.
