As you may be aware, the Lenten 40 Days for Life Campaign kicked off on Wednesday (Ash Wednesday/Valentine’s Day) at 6pm in front of Planned Parenthood on Centennial Blvd in Colorado Springs. It was an inspiring hour of prayer and speeches injected with enthusiasm by a considerable youth presence. Below I’ve shared the post-event comments of the campaign’s organizer, Michele Mason. We have energy and momentum: please join us on the sidewalk between now and March 25th to pray for an end to abortion in Colorado Springs, in our nation, and in our world.
“The 40 Days for Life kick off event was amazing!
We had a turnout of around 65 people, from the very young to the very old. The youth and young adults of Colorado Springs led the kick off. The faith and dedication of these young people last night was inspiring! With all the evil and destruction in the world, we have great hope for the future because of what God can do with His faithful ones. We pray for all those suffering in the world and pray that those who don’t know Christ will come to know Him.
We had a couple of news teams at the sidewalk last night, interviewing some of the participants. I haven’t seen anything aired yet, but please let me know if you see anything. One news team was the local Fox 21 news and the other was from VRT, Belgian National TV! (I had gotten an email from them 2 weeks before asking if they could come out. They are set up in New York and D.C. to report on the news from the U.S.) So, Colorado Springs prayer warriors, we have gone international!
Please, as you go out to pray, share your stories with me so I can share them with others. No story is too small. We need to lift each other up with our experiences and stories to keep us committed when the times get a little tougher. I am still getting input from churches as to the sign ups they are getting, so there are more people praying at the sidewalk than the calendar shows at the moment. If you haven’t signed up online or on the app, please do so.
Don’t forget to join our Facebook group! Pictures from the kick off are posted there.
