January 17-24, 2010 – Pro-Life Event Roundup

The rally in Acacia Park that preceded the March 4 Life on January 18 gave us the marvelous opportunity to hear some great speakers.  Their stories were truly heart wrenching — I wish all people could have heard the testimonies.

  • At 18 years of age, Rebecca Kiessling discovered that she had been conceived in rape.  Her birth mother backed out of two back-alley abortions (since abortion was illegal in the US in 1968), and she carried her baby to term before giving her up for adoption.Rebecca was more than shocked by this revelation:  she was crushed.  But the story of her emotional healing was truly beautiful.
  • Barbara Allen, Pikes Peak Regional Coordinator of Silent No More Awareness, shared her post-abortion story.  It was similar to so many that I have heard over the years; and my heart still aches, thinking of the pain the woman and other women have gone through before experiencing spiritual healing. In years past prolifers found that once a girl or woman is experiencing an unwanted pregnancy, all the choices for the future are painful – whether parenting; adoption or abortion.
  • We also heard from Kiely, a teen mom who allowed her baby to be adopted.  A brave girl who chose life for her baby!
  • Kristi Brown Burton, who spearheaded the 2008 Colorado Personhood Amendment in her teens, reminded us that the power of one person to make a difference is immense – no matter one’s age!

Sidewalk Counseling Training – Jan 2010

WHEN:     Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010.  12:00 – 3:00 pm
WHERE:   Pike Peak Citizens for Life (PPCFL) Office (707-R N. Nevada)

Do we truly want to live in a community that protects life?

The parking lot of Planned Parenthood (PP) on West Colorado Ave is full every Thursday, Friday and Saturday with young women – many scared and confused – going for abortions.

A growing number of pro-life people come to PP on Saturday mornings to pray beside sidewalk counselors who pass out information and speak with the abortion-minded moms and dads.  The number of counselors is growing, but more help is needed.

Do you feel called to reach out to these parents-to-be, but don’t know what to say?  Then come to the next Sidewalk Counseling training on Saturday, Jan. 16 at the PPCFL office.

To get more info or to reserve your place in the class, call PPCFL today at (719) 630-1999.
